Description
Campbell's Covered Bridge in Landrum, South Carolina is the Palmetto State's only remaining covered bridge out of twenty that once stood. Built between 1909 and 1911, the thirty-ight foot long, twelve foot wide pine structure that spans Beaverdam Creek was built by Charles Irwin Willis. The bridge is named for Alexander Lafayette Campbell who operated the grist mill just downstream of the bridge.
It is owned by Greenville County, which closed it to motorized traffic in the early 1980s. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 1, 2009.
