Description
Aiken Railway GP30 #4201 in Aiken, SC. This unit was built for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe as their #1275, but was mostly recently Burlinton Northern Santa Fe. It was retired by the BNSF and sent to Larry's Truck & electric, LTEX 2473, before being sold to Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation for their new railroad, the Aiken Railway. It went to sister railroad the Greenville & Western, for rebuilding and painting. Since the Aiken was so new at the time, it travelled under GRWL reporting marks.
Western Carolina Railway owns and operates two sections of former Southern Railway track in Aiken, SC, a total of approximately 18 miles of rail.
