Description
A Lancaster and Chester dinner train passes the then Springs warehouses in Fort Lawn, SC. They caled this train the Silver Streamliner Express. The consist this day was two former Conrail EMD SW1200s, 93 and 98, the Golden Tower, the J. Pinckney Henderson, both of which are in the L&C fleet, and two Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Railway dinner cars. The SW1200s have been sold off in favor of larger motors; the ACWR cars have long been returned to their owners. The J.P. Henderson car has been sold and while the Golden Tower is still owned by the L&C, one wonders for how long.
At the time of this shot, the railroad was owned by the Springs family heirs who also owned their namesake textile mills. The warehouses in the background were still running. But since this shot, the mills were merged with a company and moved overseas and the railroad was sold. The old warehouses still stand and one has found new use.
