Description
After a long day on the job, two railroad crews get back to Cayce South Carolina's former Seaboard Airline Yard. Of some interest is all of the older power in this shot, used in mostly local service at the time this photograph was made. CSXT #5922 was a GE B36-7 locomotive built for the Seaboard System in in 1985. The Dash 7s were popular among some of us who shoot railroads for their aesthetics. Actual railroad crews sometimes had a different opinion on them and CSX retired the entire fleet of Dash 7s not long after this shot. This locomotive was sold to Transkentucky Transportation after this sht was made. TTI seems to have used it as a arts source for the rest of their fleet before that railroad shut down.
CSXT #4443 was built in 1979 as Conrail GP40-2 #3375. After tht railroad was broken up, it became CSXT #4443. It is still earning her keep for CSX in 2019 but has since been renumbered to CSXT #6956.
CSXT #5956 is also a former Conrail motor, built for that railroad as CR 5074. a GE B40-8,in 1988. It then became CSXT #5956 in 1999. CSX later derated it to B20=8 specs, then sold it to the Maine Central where it works today as MEC #5966.
