Description
This fifty foot box car is now owned by the Pee Dee River Railway, though it's still painted for a previous owner. The Seattle and North Coast Railroad (SNCT) was a shortline railroad that operated on the northern part of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State from Port Angeles to Port Townsend. The line was unique in that it was a "rail island" with no outside rail connection to a mainline railroad. Instead, rail equipment was brought in via barges that traveled between Port Townsend and Seattle. According to the railroad's Wikipedia page, the line was shut down in 1982, so it's a treat to see this car so far from it's home in both geography and time. This fifty foot box car is now owned by the Pee Dee River Railway. The PDRR uses a multitude of box cars on it's line in a variety of paint schemes. Most of them congregate in Marlboro, SC at the paper plant. The PDRR is owned by the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad.
PDRR 1512 is ex LRWN 1512/BN 223079/SBD 162053/SCNT 1109 and was built 5-80
