Artist's Description
In October 2005, the first train of the day prepares to load up and head out of Dillsboro, NC. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad has painted this engine within the past two years or so into another paint scheme making this shot impossible to get now. If you judge based solely on comments around the web, the new paint scheme is not as popular as this one. The railroad operates a tourist line as well as some freight operations on former Southern Railway rails.
About Joseph C Hinson
South Carolina native, photographer, railroad aficionado, I am happy when there is a camera strapped around my neck and something interesting in my viewfinder. This is my work, and I am proud to share it with you. I like to shoot railroads and interesting buildings and skylines as well as people. I am a former award-winning TV News photographer with the most watched TV station in South Carolina who has also photographed (and wrote) for newspapers and magazines such as Trains and Railroad and Railfan. Message me any comments or questions you may have. I go by Joe.

Thank you to the buyer from Michigan who bought a print of this shot. They have recently painted this engine out of the paint scheme shown above.
