Description
Three old timers gather at Grand Junction in Chattanooga, TN, including the Southern Railway 2-8-0 #630. The gentlemen may remember a time when steam engines weren't history, but were rather the machines that moved people and goods around the country. The 630 was built in 1904 at the old American Locomotive Company shop in Richmond, Virginia as a freight locomotive. She has been rebuilt by the Tennessee Valley Rauilroad Museum in Chattanooga where she runs regular passenger trips. She also serves as one of the main stay engines in Norfolk Southern's 21st Century Steam trips. I first saw her under steam under that program in Spencer, NC.
