Description
Lancaster and Chester Railroad is seen here on the morning of July 3, 2017. Don't let the lovely weather fool you. It was shaping up to be a typical hot and muggy summer day in South Carolina. The lead engine is a first for the L&C. It's their first engine with a Canadian comfort cab, so noted because the locomotives were initially built for the Canadian National Railway. It came to the L&C from the Yadkin Valley Railroad which, like the Lancaster and Chester, is owned by Gulf & Ohio Railways. The L&C typically paints their power in the blue scheme worn by the other two engines in this shot. But I am told the GP40-2LW #9548 will not be repainted out of her black. She does now adorn L&C lettering and a Springmaid logo on the cab side of the unit.
