An American Eagle Dash 8 prepares to take off from Charlotte-Douglass International Airport in late 2016. The airline company plans to retire their Dash 8-100s in 2018. In fact, the last flight of a Dash 8 took off from Charlotte in July of this year. In fact, according to Flight Aware, this plane with the tail number N337EN was one of the last flights out of Charlotte on July 4th. It flew to Roanoke.
The -100 is the smallest model in the family of Dash 8 regional turboprops, a commercially successful aircraft that debuted in the 1980s under the De Havilland Canada name, before production was taken over by Bombardier.
